News Volunteering at First Steps ED as a Trainee Student!
First Steps E.D. is a great place to be, especially if you are a trainee student volunteer! You will be welcomed by professional and highly effective, caring staff members who really work hard to fulfil the charity’s ethos by serving the community with all sorts of counselling, peer support, and creative arts group workshops.
As a year one MA Art Therapy trainee at the university of Derby, I have learnt a great deal from obtaining weekly supervisions, as well as attending staff meetings including Multi-Disciplinary and Young Persons Teams. In addition, I have received excellent CPD trainings such as Food and Mood, Body Image, Compulsive Exercise, and Volunteer Specialist training that gave me a wealth of knowledge in addition to my own research, readings and presentations.
Furthermore, I obtained Embrace CPD professional platform trainings, which gave me excellent preparation and understanding of GDPR ethics, data protection, health and safety, adult and child safeguarding, and so much more!
I strongly recommend this charity to anyone who is passionate about mental health and feels compelled to help vulnerable people suffering from eating disorders.
Thank you so much First Steps E.D.
